Parents/Caregivers of all Tiger Trades Academy Students:
As you know from daily news stories, suicide rates have been steadily increasing among adolescents. A recent study showed that from 2007 to 2015, suicide rates doubled among teen girls and rose by more than 30% among teen boys.
Tiger Trades Academy and Santa Fe Trail BOCES will be sharing an evidence-based suicide prevention program with all students on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Kelly Addington, School Health Professional/ School Counselor from BOCES, will be presenting the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program. SOS is a one class period presentation that helps students recognize the warning signs and symptoms of depression and suicide in themselves or their friends, and also teaches them how to get help. The 7th and 8th graders will watch the Middle School presentation, and the 9th-12th graders will watch the High School presentation. **Important Opt-out Information: If you do not want your student to participate in the SOS suicide prevention program, please call the school office by Tuesday, November 30th. (363-1504).

Suicide Prevention Program
Our Health Staff will be providing Covid-19 testing for EOSD students and staff. It will be at LJHS (main building, south side) from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23rd. We must have a one time signed consent to provide the testing (attached). For students, the consent must be signed by the parent or legal guardian. For staff, they must provide one for them self as well.
